How to Import Subscribers
Once you have a mailing list, the next step is adding your subscribers. Aledamail lets you import contacts via CSV file, add them one at a time manually, or connect a sign-up form to grow your list automatically.
Option 1 — Import via CSV (recommended for bulk uploads)
Prepare your CSV file
Your CSV file needs at minimum one column: email. You can also include additional columns for personalization:
jane@example.com,Jane,Smith
john@example.com,John,Doe
Column headers are case-insensitive. Aledamail will automatically map common column names like Email, First Name, FirstName, first_name etc.
Upload the file
- Go to Lists and open the list you want to import into.
- Click the Import button.
- Select CSV File and upload your file.
- Map the columns — Aledamail will auto-detect common fields. Confirm the mapping looks correct.
- Click Import to start the upload.
For large lists, the import runs in the background. You'll see a progress indicator and can continue using the platform while it completes.
Option 2 — Add a single subscriber manually
For adding one contact at a time:
- Open your list and click Add Subscriber.
- Enter the subscriber's email address and any other details.
- Click Save.
This is useful for adding a specific contact quickly without preparing a CSV file.
Subscription status
When you import subscribers, you can set their subscription status:
- Subscribed — Active subscribers who will receive your campaigns. Use this if your contacts have already opted in.
- Unsubscribed — Contacts you want to store but not email. They won't receive campaigns.
Custom fields
If your CSV has columns beyond email, first name, and last name, you can map them to custom fields in Aledamail. Go to Lists → Your List → Fields to create custom fields first, then re-import or map them during the import step.
After importing
Once your import is complete, you'll see the subscriber count update on your list overview. You're now ready to send your first campaign.
