How to Connect an SMTP Sending Server
Aledamail is a bring-your-own-sending-server platform. This means you connect your own email service provider and Aledamail handles everything else — campaigns, automations, lists, analytics, and unsubscribe management. You keep full control over your sending reputation and costs.
Supported providers
Amazon SES
Best value — ~$0.10 per 1,000 emails. Recommended for most users.
SendGrid
API or SMTP. Free tier up to 100 emails/day.
Mailgun
API or SMTP. Strong deliverability tools built in.
Postmark
SMTP. Known for fast, reliable delivery.
SparkPost
API or SMTP. Enterprise-grade infrastructure.
Any SMTP server
Any provider with SMTP credentials works — including your own mail server.
Step 1 — Go to Sending Servers
Log in to Aledamail and click Sending Servers in the left sidebar. Then click New Sending Server.
Step 2 — Choose your provider type
Select your provider from the list. If your provider isn't listed, choose SMTP — this works with any provider that gives you SMTP credentials.
Step 3 — Enter your credentials
For API-based providers (Amazon SES, SendGrid, Mailgun)
You'll need your API key from your provider's dashboard. Each provider calls this something slightly different:
- Amazon SES — Access Key ID and Secret Access Key from AWS IAM
- SendGrid — API Key from Settings → API Keys
- Mailgun — Private API Key from Settings → API Keys
For SMTP providers
You'll need the following from your provider:
- SMTP host — e.g.
smtp.sendgrid.netoremail-smtp.us-east-1.amazonaws.com - SMTP port — usually 587 (TLS) or 465 (SSL)
- Username — varies by provider
- Password — your SMTP password or API key
- Encryption — TLS or SSL (TLS/587 recommended)
Step 4 — Set sending limits
Enter the sending limits for this server. These should match the limits your provider allows:
- Emails per hour — How many emails this server can send per hour
- Emails per day — Your daily sending quota
Setting these correctly prevents you from exceeding your provider's limits and risking account suspension.
Step 5 — Test the connection
Click Test Connection before saving. Aledamail will send a test message to verify the credentials are correct. If the test fails, double-check your credentials and make sure your provider's SMTP access is enabled.
Step 6 — Save and assign to a list
Click Save. Your sending server is now connected. Aledamail will automatically use it when you send campaigns from lists that use your verified sending domain.
If you have multiple sending servers, you can assign a specific server to each list under Lists → Your List → Settings → Sending Server.
Verifying your sending domain
For best deliverability, make sure your sending domain is authenticated with SPF and DKIM records. Your provider's documentation will give you the exact DNS records to add. Once added, go to Sending Domains in Aledamail to verify the domain is correctly authenticated.
